Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio Verde

The Curve

Even though some of the films are older, we can't relegate them to the archives. Not because of the awards they won, but because of the photography, which was innovative for its time. With a love of experimentation and the courage to push boundaries, we made a film that was both original and little known at the time. Director Lino Russell and I often filmed experimenting and playing with our own equipment. We shot a series of wildly abstract shots in the very early hours of the preparation days, before the whole circus arrived. The particular images we wanted to achieve required a different way of filming. As well as meticulous planning and passion, we used a bunch of unconventional technology. Not only did we make extensive use of the new small digital cameras that were often frowned upon in car commercials at the time. I also put half-chewed sweets and all sorts of objects in front of the lens, which my producer found quite disgusting. We finaly ended up in the air with helicopter pilots who didn't seem to speak English or their own language, operating a handheld camera and trying to get lens whacks on the open door of a shaky helicopter. in that situation, I didn't expect to have nostalgic memories one day.
